Carrera GT, GT3 4.0RS, GT2 RS. They are absurdly powerful, engagingly analog, incredibly excessive, and engineered to perfection. I can't see them topping those from a pure enjoyment standpoint. Obviously, this is pure speculation.

That doesn't look like Hammond, May, or Clarkson.

I think the 997 might just be the overall climax for analog Porsche products.

And you own a 997! And the last NA M3! You just need f355 and you have all of the "last greats" you need!

But it's neither of them.
IT MUST BE THE STIG WITH NO HELMET!!!!!!!

The 2000s was an amazing decade for cars, period.

A stripper 997 though, lol. It's so low on the totem pole that it doesn't even count. Should have got the C2S.
Hmm if we're talking last of for the Dino line it would need to be an F430 (last Manuél) and 458 (last N/A)

I can still remember the day I bought a new CGT and had sex with Lindsay Lohan. Then after waking up, you could play GTA San Andreas.

Ah, yes. I remember middle school.

A 911 is a 911, man! Also, while this is true, an F355 is arguably the last V8 Ferrari that will melt your eyes and give you a continuous eargasm while you drive it, arguably. Arguably.

If I could forget, I would. But I can't, so I'll recollect the good parts. Which I just summed up.
![]() 08/05/2014 at 20:23 |

True, it's still a 911. But just barely. It's the last base Carrera that I think is worthy of being called a 911.
The 991 Carrera should be called a 912. It might have 6 cylinders but that 3.4L mill is not suited for such a big car. And it feels so stressed compared to the engines placed in much cheaper cars. If you're getting a 991 you have to pay for the Carrera S or it's not even worth it.
The F355 does have the best sound. But the 360 with custom exhaust is no slouch! The 360 CS sounds so damn good...

Yeah, I imagine that the new base Carrera feels a bit like a modern-day 912. It doesn't sound like a very good slow-car-fast car either. I've never driven anything powered by a Porsche flat 6, but I can say that (despite the fact that I prefer revving out a NA I6 to the low-end torque of a turbo I6) an engine with a progressive powerband needs to have enough top-end thrust to make it enjoyable. Either that, or there needs to be an incredibly intimate driving experience. I think the real reason I prefer the F355 so much is the looks, really- any Ferrari V8 will sound good with a nice exhaust setup.

I think 997.2 is the best looking 911 of all time (especially the more aggressive models), including the 993. Yeah, I said it.

I've driven the base 991 Cabrio and didn't gusta it at all
I really like how the Ferrari 308 looks. Magnum PI be damned, I still love it!

I still question recommending the Z4 sdrive30i when a 35i could be found for the same money because of the weight and power difference despite the satisfaction of revving that engine out plus the sound and reliability and weight advantages, but it's a pretty light car with the flattest powerband out there; a 991 Cab , however, is probably is far too heavy for its engine. Every episode of Magnum P.I. I watched, I couldn't help but think I would have the coolest life in the world if only I could obtain a 308! And that hasn't changed with my age.

The 997.2 GT3 RS might be one of the best Porsches of all time that isn't a super crazy rare or super expensive car like the GT3 RS 4.0 or 959

We need to get red 308s and dress up like Magnum for every Halloween!
![]() 08/05/2014 at 21:43 |

We really should! I just need to find a cheap 308 and a suitcase with $20k, sell my inferior 80s-tastic car, and grow an amazing mustache!

DUDE
I will totally grow a mustache too if we both get 308 targas!

The coolest water cooled porsche is the 993

I took the deluxe on-ramp/highway merge tour of the area just now and I'm really divided: the classiness of a Ferrari or the handling/torque of an early C4 with many dollars to spare? Oh the problems. (Just kidding: Ferrari.). Short shorts, tiny baseball caps, Hawaiian shirts, and mullet not mandatory but recommended. It's okay, it can't hurt my social life.
![]() 08/05/2014 at 23:02 |

But they are air cooled! That's why people love them so much. They're the last 911's 911.
